UPDATE:

Together, we managed to help a 116 children buy the school clothes, shoes and stationary they needed to access education!

Getting photos of children buying their school supplies, and messages of thanks from families in our community, has been lighting up our lives these past couple of weeks, and we wanted to share some of them with you too:

“I can’t even describe the happiness in my kids’ eyes when they saw their school supplies arrive. My son has been putting his new pens and pencils in his new bag and then taking them out and putting them back again, as he is so excited. It couldn’t have been more helpful given the hard economic circumstances.” - Yasmeen

“I thank you from the bottom of my heart for helping us with the school supplies. I wouldn’t have managed to send my children to school if it wasn’t for this help. Makani is always there for us.” - Nadiya

Thank you for standing in solidarity with children who remember nothing but war and displacement.

ORIGINAL APPEAL:

Please help a Syrian child start school this autumn

30% of Syrian refugee children in Lebanon (200,000 children) have never been to school, according to the UN.

For one in three of these out-of-school children, the biggest obstacle is the cost of school supplies - pencils, paper, schoolbags and uniforms.

This may seem incredible - such a seemingly small thing making education completely inaccessible - but 99% of Syrian families in Lebanon live in extreme poverty, and struggle to give their children enough to eat each week, let alone find money for books.

After 12 brutal years of conflict, most Syrian children can remember nothing but war. Together, we can give them something positive to focus on, and a chance of a better future.

  • £10 could buy notebooks, pens, pencils and a maths set.

  • £25 could buy a school bag and a school uniform.

  • £50 could buy everything a child needs for a year of school: notebooks, pens, pencils, maths set, crayons and drawing pad, water bottle, school bag, school uniform and school shoes.

School in Lebanon starts in two weeks.

If together we can raise £3000 by the 15th of September, we can provide 60 children with school supplies for a whole year of education.

Thank you.

Please contribute what you can and together let’s give Syrian children the chance to start school this autumn.
