Film for Freedom- Lebanon

Bringing the unheard voices of Syrian refugee women in Lebanon to the media as citizen journalists, through feminist filmmaking workshops and communications campaign.

Who gets to tell their own story?

All too often, the loudest voices are the most privileged - the ones who can fight for their rights from a position of power.

Being poor, being a refugee, being a woman; all these things can stand in the way of getting your story heard.

For the pilot edition of Film For Freedom, we worked with ten Syrian refugee women in Lebanon to learn the fundamentals of filmmaking, and mentor them to make short films about their own lives, telling their own stories, in their own way.

You can listen to our Times Radio interview with Kait Borsay about this project, and watch a selection of the films made during the project below to find out more.
